Translation

Settings for text recognition and translation.

Translation Engine​

Select the translation engine used by the built-in server. Default is Auto (Recommended).

  • Auto (Recommended)
  • Engine 1 (Quality)
  • Engine 2 (Speed)
  • Legacy Engine

To use your own translation engine, set it up as a Mod.

Auto Detect Language​

Select whether to auto-detect the language.

Language for Text Recognition​

Set the language for text recognition. This setting is effective when Auto Detect Language is OFF.

Language for Translation​

Set the language for translation.

The languages ​​supported by each translation and character recognition are as follows.

English, Japanese, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Korean, French, Italian, German, Russian, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Romanian, Swedish, Slovak, Slovenian, Czech, Danish, Turkish, Hungarian, Finnish, Bulgarian, Greek, Ukrainian, Thai, Norwegian, Arabic, Hindi, Indonesian

Auto Translate​

When turned on, holding the frame still detects the text inside the frame and overlays the translation on top of the original text. Default is ON.

  1. Keep the frame still for the Hold-Still Duration, and text detection starts.
  2. When text is captured, the frame turns cyan and the controllers vibrate.
  3. When the translation is ready, it is overlaid at the position of the original text.

To translate other text, release the target with the operation set in Rescan Method, then aim the frame at the next text.

Auto Translate does not work in the following cases:

  • While recording a GIF animation
  • While the Repeat Feature is in use
  • While scaling the frame with the stick
  • During the tutorial

When to Run​

Select the modes in which Auto Translate runs. Default is In Translation Mode.

  • In Translation Mode
    Runs only in Translation Mode.

  • Always
    Runs in any of Photo Mode, Translation Mode, and 2D Code Mode.

Rescan Method​

Select how to release the target and aim at the next text while text is captured (while the frame is cyan). Default is Trigger.

  • Trigger
    A short press of the mode switch trigger releases the target. While text is captured, the mode icon changes to the rescan icon, and a short press does not switch modes.

  • Distance
    Moving either hand farther than the Rescan Distance releases the target.

When the target is released, the controllers vibrate, and text detection starts again after the Hold-Still Duration.

Rescan Distance​

Sets how far a hand must move to release the target when Rescan Method is Distance. The range is 2 to 15 cm, and the default is 5 cm.
This cannot be changed when Rescan Method is Trigger.

Hold-Still Duration​

Sets how long the frame must be held still before text detection starts. The range is 0.2 to 2.0 seconds, and the default is 0.6 seconds.

This setting also applies to Auto Scan of 2D codes.
While Auto Translate is OFF, this item is hidden, but the value you set is still used by Auto Scan.

Stabilization​

When turned on, the frame is held steady against hand shake while text is captured. Default is ON.
When Rescan Method is Trigger, stabilization works only until the translation is displayed.

Estimate Original Colors​

When turned on, the background and text colors of the translation are estimated from the colors of the original text. Default is ON.
When turned off, the translation is shown in white text on a black background.

Auto Copy Result to Clipboard​

Select whether to automatically copy the translation results to the clipboard.

Ignore Line Breaks And Paragraphs​

When this is turned on, line breaks and paragraphs are ignored during text recognition.
Text is recognized as a single line.

Recognize Images Only​

When turned on, the results of character recognition will be displayed on the panel without translation.
